Security operatives have successfully rescued the abducted relatives of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, following a tactical operation in Oyo State.
The Force Intelligence Department’s Intelligence Response Team tracking the culprits conducted the late-night operation in Ibadan, exactly three days after the victims were ambushed and taken during a school run.
Details of the Operation
According to official updates from the Nigeria Police Force, the rescue mission took place around 7:30 pm on Saturday. Law enforcement tracked the movements of the criminal syndicate through sustained intelligence gathering and surveillance.
Upon locating the hideout, a confrontation ensued between the tactical team and the abductors.
Casualties and Recoveries: Two suspected kidnappers were fatally wounded during the exchange of gunfire, while other members of the syndicate managed to escape the scene with gunshot injuries. Officers recovered two rifles at the site.
Victim Status: The rescued individuals—identified as the former minister's younger sister, Olaide John-Paul, and her 12-year-old twin sons—were found unharmed. They have been placed in safe custody and are currently receiving medical attention and psychosocial support.
