The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission has refuted claims regarding the arrest of Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, in relation to the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council inquiry.

According to ICPC spokesperson Demola Bakare, Gbajabiamila voluntarily attended a scheduled session with commission investigators to address inquiries as part of the broader fact-finding process. Following the interview, he departed the facility without restraint.

The commission emphasized that his presence was strictly in response to an official invitation aimed at gathering information relevant to the ongoing probe. The agency stated that the investigation remains active and that additional developments will be communicated as appropriate.

This appearance follows an earlier disclosure by Gbajabiamila’s legal counsel, Jiti Ogunye, confirming his client's compliance with the agency's request. The investigation was initiated following a directive issued by President Bola Tinubu on July 2, mandating the anti-graft agency to conduct a thorough inquiry into the PFIPC matter. Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga previously confirmed that the commission was instructed to conclude its review and present a final report within a 30-day timeframe.
