The Kogi State Government has announced the successful rescue of four individuals who were abducted during a recent attack on an examination center in Olowa, located within the Dekina Local Government Area.

The rescue was the result of a coordinated security operation initiated immediately after the incident by Governor Ahmed Ododo. Under the Governor's direction, State Security Adviser Commander Jerry Omodara (Rtd) coordinated a joint mission comprising the Nigerian Army, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force, local vigilante groups, and other security personnel.

Following the abduction, security forces, including leadership from the 12 Brigade and the 21 Battalion of the Nigerian Army, launched a search operation in the surrounding forest. This sustained pressure and the heavy deployment of armed personnel forced the abductors to abandon their victims and flee the area. Security operations remain active in the forest to apprehend the fleeing suspects.

The rescued individuals—consisting of a school principal, a National Examinations Council (NECO) official, and two students—are reported to be unharmed. They are currently with security agencies undergoing debriefing and medical evaluations.

Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, commended the professionalism and swift response of the joint security forces, highlighting the success as a demonstration of effective inter-agency collaboration. The state government also expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for directing federal security heads to provide the necessary tactical support for the operation.

The Kogi State Government reaffirmed its commitment to combating criminality, stating that it will continue to invest in intelligence, security logistics, and collaborative efforts to maintain safety across the state.
