ABUJA, NIGERIA: The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has announced a widespread power outage affecting critical government institutions, foreign embassies, and several residential areas across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
In a statement released on Saturday, the utility provider attributed the disruption to a technical fault. The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has deployed its technical team to resolve the issue and restore electricity to the impacted areas.
Key Locations Affected
The outage has impacted high-profile infrastructure and key sectors within the nation's capital, including:

Government & Judiciary: The State House (Presidential Villa), the Supreme Court, the National Judicial Council (NJC), the National Assembly (NASS) Annex, and the National Planning Commission.

Transportation & Security: Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, the Airforce Base, and the headquarters of the Immigration, Customs, Correctional Services, and Civil Defense agencies.

Diplomatic Missions: The European Union Delegation, as well as the embassies of Egypt, India, Pakistan, Sudan, and Turkey.

Healthcare: The National Hospital.

AEDC listed numerous neighborhoods and commercial hubs experiencing blackouts, including:

Response and Recovery
AEDC expressed regret over the disruption and assured the public that maintenance crews are working continuously to rectify the fault.
"The technical team of the Transmission Company of Nigeria is currently working to restore power supply to the affected areas," the notice stated. "We regret the inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding."
No specific timeline for the full restoration of power has been provided yet.
