Nigerian skit maker and influencer Cute Abiola has sparked widespread debate after sharing a detailed video documenting his wife’s childbirth surgery, raising concerns about privacy and the monetisation of sensitive personal moments.

The hour-long video, uploaded to YouTube on Tuesday, captures the couple’s experience from pre-surgery preparations through to post-delivery recovery. In one of the most emotional scenes, filmed on April 4, the day of the procedure, Cute Abiola is seen outside the operating theatre visibly distressed as he prays for his wife’s safety.

“So my wife is in the theatre already… I beg you God, please. I wish my wife safe delivery. I wish she comes out well. There should be no complications,” he said.

He disclosed that the operation was his wife’s third surgery in four years, a revelation that prompted concern among some viewers about the physical and emotional strain.

As the procedure progressed, the content creator narrated his experience, explaining that he played Quran recitations to ease the tension while struggling to contain his emotions.

“I was shaking already. I could not hold it anymore. I was just crying… Allah,” he added.

The surgery was ultimately successful, with the couple welcoming a baby boy. Announcing the birth, he expressed gratitude, saying, “We deliver a bouncing baby boy… Glory be to God. Alhamdulillah.”

Despite the positive outcome, the video has generated significant backlash online, with critics questioning the decision to film and publish such an intimate medical experience, while others have defended it as a personal and faith-driven expression of gratitude.
