The Oyo State Government has received two long-awaited security surveillance aircraft at the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport in Ibadan.
According to the state Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dotun Oyelade, the new aircraft will enhance intelligence collection, aerial monitoring, and rapid security responses throughout Oyo State and neighboring regions.
Governor Seyi Makinde previously confirmed on July 18, 2026, that the aircraft had arrived in the country and were undergoing reassembly at the Nigerian Air Force hangar in Lagos. State officials had earlier assured residents that delivery would be completed before the end of July, fulfilling that timeline.
The initiative builds on an announcement made by the state government on July 8, 2025, detailing the purchase of the surveillance platforms to address security challenges such as banditry and kidnapping. The aircraft will assist various security formations, including the Amotekun Corps, in tracking criminal activity and improving operational coordination across the state.
