Security agencies in Osun State have alerted religious leaders to a security threat involving potential attacks on public gathering centers and places of worship ahead of the upcoming general elections.

The Department of State Services convened separate briefings with representatives of the Muslim community and the Christian Association of Nigeria in Osogbo to share intelligence regarding potential security risks in the region. According to community leaders, security officials indicated that hostile groups might attempt to target populated areas, including religious institutions, educational facilities, and commercial centers, in an effort to disrupt public peace.

In response to the intelligence report, religious organizations have distributed advisories urging congregations and community members to enhance vigilance. Recommended precautions include restricting unauthorized vehicle parking near worship venues during major gatherings, monitoring visitors, employing security personnel for night vigils and services, and coordinating closely with local law enforcement agencies to report suspicious activities. Authorities and community leaders continue to emphasize cooperation and heightened security awareness across the state.
