The principal suspect in the death of a 12-year-old student, 47-year-old teacher Mrs. Dim Ebere, has surrendered to authorities at the Neni Police Station. The development follows an intense manhunt launched by the Anambra State Police Command after the young boy reportedly died from injuries sustained during a flogging at a school in Adazi-Enu, located within the Anaocha Local Government Area.

According to a statement released by the command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the suspect turned herself in due to coordinated operations by the Safe School Protection Squad. The operation was executed alongside officers from the Neni Divisional Police Headquarters and involved extensive collaboration with local community leaders and stakeholders in Adazi-Ani.

Mrs. Ebere remains in police custody and is scheduled for transfer to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka, where the investigation will proceed.

The police command expressed appreciation to the Adazi-Ani community, traditional institutions, and local stakeholders for their support in resolving the manhunt. Authorities have assured the public and the family of the deceased that a thorough investigation will be conducted to ensure justice. Additionally, officials have called for public calm, urging citizens not to engage in vigilantism and to continue assisting law enforcement with relevant information.
