The violent killing of 54-year-old Kano social media commentator Ibrahim Khalil Dan Shagamu has left his family and community demanding answers. Dan Shagamu was attacked and killed inside his residence in the Ja'en Yamma B ward by unidentified intruders during the night.

A former writer for the Kannywood film industry and marketing staffer at two local radio stations, Dan Shagamu was known for publishing frequent selfie-recorded videos addressing political, religious, and social issues. While investigators and community figures explore potential motives ranging from his outspoken online commentaries to local disputes, the Kano State Police Command confirmed that two individuals have been taken into custody as inquiries continue.

Family members, including his eldest son Muhammad Ibrahim and daughter Ummusalma Ibrahim, have strongly condemned the attack and called on state authorities to conduct a thorough investigation to bring those responsible to justice. Local community leaders, including the area's Ward Head, have urged residents to maintain peace while cooperating fully with law enforcement as the investigation proceeds.
