The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially distanced itself from a fraudulent list of election candidates for Imo, Abia, and Anambra states that has been circulating across social media platforms.

In a statement released on Friday, NDC National Secretary Ikenna Enekweizu clarified that the document did not originate from the party's national headquarters. He urged party members and the general public to completely disregard the unauthorized publications. Enekweizu emphasized that the NDC has already submitted its official and authentic list of candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in strict compliance with the procedures outlined in the Electoral Act.

According to the party leadership, the circulation of the false lists is the work of unauthorized individuals attempting to generate confusion, foster ill will, and disrupt the party's ongoing political activities. In response to the incident, the NDC has launched an internal investigation to identify the origin of the fabricated documents and determine how they were distributed.

The leadership concluded by reassuring its membership of its ongoing commitment to maintaining internal unity and continuing its mission to serve as a viable political alternative for the nation.
