Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has firmly dismissed the existence of a "rainbow coalition" within the state, asserting that members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) will maintain a unified front to secure President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

The governor made this statement during the distribution of campaign vehicles to supporters under the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement in Owerri. Addressing party faithful and movement members, Uzodimma emphasized that the group was established strictly to campaign for President Tinubu and the APC. He issued a stern warning that the distributed vehicles would be immediately retrieved from anyone found working outside the party's platform.

Highlighting the administration's performance, the governor noted that the state government thoroughly evaluated President Tinubu’s achievements and resolved to back his second-term bid, acknowledging at the same time that further development efforts are ongoing. He also expressed appreciation to High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, widely known as Tompolo, for his financial and resource contributions toward the movement's mobilization activities.

Furthermore, Uzodimma urged supporters to back APC candidates across all levels of upcoming elections ranging from the House of Assembly and National Assembly to the governorship polls maintaining that the party remains the premier political platform in the state.

This development unfolds against the backdrop of an ongoing debate between APC governors and Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike regarding his proposed "Rainbow Coalition." While Wike’s cross-party initiative aims to rally broad support for Tinubu's presidential ambition while allowing members to retain affiliations with other parties for local elections, APC governors have raised concerns. Leadership within the ruling party fears that such an arrangement could fracture local structures and undermine APC candidates running in state and legislative races.

Uzodimma, who also serves as the chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, reiterated his stance against political strategies that risk weakening the party's grassroots foundation or jeopardizing its electoral strength ahead of 2027.
