Arsenal suffered their first defeat of the Premier League season in a stunning 3-0 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium.

Mikel Arteta’s side traveled to the south coast looking to extend an impressive streak that included four consecutive league wins and seven victories across all competitions. However, Fabian Hürzeler's Brighton delivered a masterclass to halt the champions in their tracks.

The deadlock was broken in the 31st minute when Pascal Gross rifled a brilliant strike from the edge of the penalty area past the Arsenal defense. Just before the interval, Brighton doubled their advantage through Charalampos Kostoulas, whose impressive long-range effort left the Gunners trailing 2-0 at halftime.

Any hopes of an Arsenal comeback were effectively extinguished in the 57th minute. Chema Andrés rose highest to power home a header, sealing a commanding 3-0 lead for the hosts. Brighton comfortably managed the remainder of the contest, stifling Arsenal's attack and creating the better opportunities to cap off a memorable afternoon.

The result marks a major roadblock for Arsenal following a strong start to the campaign that featured wins against Manchester United, Chelsea, Leeds United, and Sunderland, alongside successes in Europe and the League Cup. For Brighton, the dominant performance builds on recent momentum, following a 5-0 thrashing of Coventry City and a League Cup victory over Manchester United.

The defeat also halts Arsenal's recent winning streak at the Amex, following their 1-0 victory at the venue back in March. Arsenal will now head into the international break looking to regroup and bounce back after dropping their first points of the league season.
