The Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, has announced a total cash reward of ₦150 million alongside plots of land for the players and management of Rangers International Football Club following their victory in the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

The announcement was made during a celebratory dinner reception held at the Government House in Enugu. The cash incentive allocates ₦100 million directly to the playing squad, while the remaining ₦50 million is designated for the technical and management staff. Furthermore, every player will receive a plot of land in Enugu, with additional land allocations directed to the head coach, general manager, assistant coach, and club secretary.

Rangers International secured their ninth domestic league title—and their second within a three-year span under the current administration—following a decisive 2-1 victory over Ikorodu City Boys in Lagos.

During the reception, Governor Mbah commended the team's discipline, hard work, and sacrifices throughout the competitive season. He highlighted the historical and cultural significance of the club, noting its origins as a symbol of unity and resilience following the Nigerian Civil War, and acknowledged its legacy of producing legendary football figures.

The governor also praised the leadership of Rangers General Manager Amobi Ezeaku, comparing the strategic management required for sports success to effective state governance. Looking forward, Mbah cautioned the team against complacency and urged them to maintain their competitive edge for upcoming continental fixtures. He assured the club of continued administrative support, noting that the ongoing renovations at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium would be completed to meet international standards ahead of their continental matches. He also reiterated the state's broader commitment to sports infrastructure as Enugu prepares to host the 2026 National Sports Festival.

Earlier in the event, the Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Lloyd Ekweremadu, expressed gratitude for the administration's sustained investments in sports. He framed the football championship as part of a larger trend of athletic excellence in the state, pointing to Enugu's top finish at the National Para Games earlier in the year.

In response, Amobi Ezeaku attributed the club's success to structural discipline and long-term vision. He acknowledged that while rival teams faced aggressive financial and material incentives throughout the campaign, Rangers remained focused due to institutional stability and trust in the state's leadership. Ezeaku emphasized that the club's ultimate objective is to elevate its performance to compete effectively against Africa's elite teams, with the long-term goal of securing the CAF Champions League title.

Prior to the formal reception at the Government House, the team and its supporters held a celebratory parade through the streets of Enugu, culminating in a public gathering at Okpara Square to mark the championship.
