The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has formed a fact-finding committee to review the recent performance decline of the country's national teams, highlighted by the Super Falcons' failure to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

This decision comes in the wake of the team's elimination in the quarter-finals of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, followed by a 2-1 loss to South Africa in the playoff for the Inter-Confederation Playoffs. Consequently, Nigeria will miss the upcoming World Cup in Brazil, ending an unbroken streak of appearances at every tournament edition since its inception in 1991. The committee's mandate is to thoroughly review these setbacks and provide actionable recommendations to secure future success.

Committee Leadership and Membership

  • Chairman: Ambassador Fanny Amun, MON

  • Members: Ladan Bosso, Desire Oparanozie, Mutiu Adepoju, and Dr. Alex Mana

  • Secretary: Mr. Nasiru Jibril

The NFF anticipates that the committee's final findings will establish a strategic framework to enhance the competitiveness and performance of Nigeria's national football teams in upcoming international competitions.
