Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have taken the Director General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, into custody.
According to sources within the anti-graft agency, Dr. Abdullahi is currently being held at the commission’s Abuja facility in connection with an investigation into alleged money laundering. The investigation reportedly centers on financial irregularities estimated at N500 billion.
The EFCC has yet to issue an official statement regarding the arrest. Attempts to reach the commission’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, for confirmation and further details remain ongoing.
Dr. Abdullahi was appointed to lead the Energy Commission of Nigeria by President Bola Tinubu on October 24, 2023.
