The family of Mrs. Olanike Ogundare has formally engaged the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS) following her abduction from her residence in the Ijedodo area of Lagos State.

Mrs. Ogundare was forcibly taken at approximately 1:00 a.m. from her home on Olufemi Ogundare Street, Oke Agaye. Reports indicate a coordinated assault in which armed kidnappers neutralized the resident security detail at gunpoint before fleeing with the victim to an undisclosed location.

Escalating Ransom Demands

According to sources familiar with the investigation, the captors have established contact with the family via the victim’s mobile phone. Negotiations are reportedly being channeled through an intermediary identified as Mr. Dapo Adeola.

While the initial ransom was set at ₦60 million, the kidnappers have reportedly adjusted their demands, insisting the payment be made in United States Dollars (USD). Investigators believe this shift is a strategic move intended to circumvent local financial monitoring and complicate the traceability of the funds.

Financial Developments and Security Response

Internal reports suggest that the victim's husband has already transferred ₦5 million to the intermediary. However, it remains unverified whether these funds have been converted to foreign currency or successfully delivered to the abductors.

Security agencies and community stakeholders, including the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) led by Gani Adams, have been mobilized to assist in the rescue operation.

Current Investigative Priorities:

  • Technical Surveillance: Real-time tracking of communications and digital footprints linked to the victim’s device.

  • Financial Oversight: Monitoring the movement of funds to and from the intermediary to prevent unauthorized or untraceable disbursements.

  • Coordinated Negotiation: Security experts are moving to take direct control of the negotiation process to ensure the victim's safety and professionalize the engagement with the abductors.

As of the latest briefing, Mrs. Ogundare remains in captivity. Law enforcement officials have emphasized the need for a controlled approach to the intermediary’s role to mitigate risks and capitalize on potential leads.
