At least six military personnel were reportedly killed during a late-night attack by suspected bandits in the Kasuwar Daji community of Kaura-Namoda Local Government Area. The assailants also abducted a large number of residents and looted local commercial properties.
According to local sources, the attack commenced at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Saturday. The armed group arrived in large numbers and engaged in sporadic gunfire, targeting the local military outpost before breaching the community.
Residents reported that the attackers ransacked multiple shops, stealing foodstuffs, beverages, and other goods. An unspecified number of community members, estimated by local sources to exceed seventy individuals, were forcibly taken into the surrounding bushland.
Alhaji Aminu Kasuwar Daji, a local resident, emphasized the urgent need for increased security interventions from both state and federal authorities to address the ongoing security challenges in the region.
Former Deputy Speaker Hon. Namadi Kasuwar Daji confirmed the incident via telephone, stating that relatives informed him of the attack and the subsequent looting and abductions.
Efforts to reach the Zamfara State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Yazid Abubakar, for an official statement were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
