An attempt to salvage a troubled marriage in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, concluded in horror when 25-year-old Kehinde Onizeokaraga was allegedly murdered by her husband, Ibrahim Sodiq.

The couple, originally from Kogi State, had experienced prolonged marital discord, leading Kehinde to move out of their shared residence. In an effort to resolve their differences, family acquaintances organized a mediation session at the home of a family friend in the Dallimore district.

According to relatives, Kehinde had decided to dissolve the union and was preparing to leave the city. She attended the meeting after receiving a message through an intermediary, unaware that her husband would be present. During the discussions, a dispute erupted between the couple. Sodiq, known locally as a meat vendor, allegedly drew a machete and inflicted fatal injuries on his wife before escaping.

Police subsequently detained several individuals connected to the gathering for questioning, while law enforcement authorities continue their search for the primary suspect. The victim's relatives have called for a thorough investigation and swift apprehension of the fleeing husband to secure justice for the deceased.
