Ahmed Ajibola, the former Oyo State Coordinator of the City Boy Movement, has officially stepped down from his position, citing leadership disagreements and concerns over the state structure's direction.
In a public statement addressing circulation of rumors on social media, Ajibola clarified that his departure was a voluntary resignation rather than a dismissal. He refuted claims that he was removed from office or that he made derogatory remarks about President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Seyi Tinubu, or other national leaders, challenging critics to provide evidence supporting the allegations.
According to Ajibola, he received appointments as Coordinator for Directorate Affairs on August 1, 2026, and subsequently as Coordinator for Stakeholder Engagement for the South-West Structure on August 5. However, he declined both roles prior to submitting his resignation to the national leadership.
Explaining his rationale, Ajibola emphasized that his decision stemmed from personal principles, transparency, and a commitment to mutual respect rather than bitterness. He noted that recent developments within the Oyo State branch conflicted with the values that initially motivated his involvement.
Despite leaving the movement, Ajibola reaffirmed his continued loyalty to President Tinubu and his administration's Renewed Hope Agenda, while pledging ongoing support for the President's 2027 re-election campaign. He concluded by expressing gratitude to his former colleagues across Oyo State for their dedication and wished the organization future success.
