The Nigeria Police Force has issued a stern warning to politicians, security agents, and electoral officials to avoid interfering with the upcoming August 15 governorship election in Osun State. CP Samuel Erale Etaifo, the commissioner overseeing election security, announced that any individuals apprehended for serious electoral violations will be promptly transferred to the Force Headquarters in Abuja to ensure impartial investigations and prosecutions without local interference.

To secure the exercise, approximately 15,000 personnel—including senior officers, mobile police operatives, and specialized units—are being deployed throughout the state. Authorities emphasized that zero tolerance will be applied to vote buying, ballot snatching, voter intimidation, and other forms of electoral malpractice.

Etaifo noted that the proactive deployment aims to eliminate fear, boost public confidence, and encourage high voter turnout. Reassuring the public of the force's neutrality, the commissioner promised a level playing field for all political candidates and warned that any security personnel caught colluding with political actors will face strict disciplinary measures. Residents were ultimately urged to remain law-abiding, cooperate with law enforcement, and report any suspicious activities.
