President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is scheduled to depart the nation’s capital on Saturday for a high-profile three-nation tour covering France, Kenya, and Rwanda. The mission aims to bolster Nigeria’s strategic alliances and drive discussions on economic transformation.

The itinerary was confirmed by Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, who outlined a schedule focused on industrialization, climate action, and private-sector growth.

Phase I: Strengthening Ties in France and Kenya

The President’s first port of call will be France, followed by a departure for Nairobi, Kenya, to participate in the Africa-France Summit.

Co-chaired by French President Emmanuel Macron and Kenyan President William Ruto, the summit is slated for May 11–12. Under the theme "Africa Forward: Africa-France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth," the forum will address several critical pillars:

  • Energy & Environment: Focus on green industrialization and climate resilience.

  • Global Finance: Deliberations on restructuring the global financing architecture.

  • Development: Discussions on digital transformation, infrastructure, and youth empowerment.

President Tinubu’s attendance is expected to underscore Nigeria’s commitment to deepening bilateral relations with the French Republic and fostering intra-continental synergy.

Phase II: Driving Investment at the Africa CEO Forum

Following the conclusion of proceedings in Nairobi, President Tinubu will travel to Kigali, Rwanda, for the annual Africa CEO Forum, scheduled for May 14–15.

Recognized as the continent’s largest gathering of private-sector leaders and policymakers, this year’s forum—themed "Scale or Fail"—is organized in partnership with the International Finance Corporation (IFC). The event will bring together over 2,000 top executives to strategize on:

  • Accelerating regional integration.

  • Increasing cross-border investment.

  • Building competitive, resilient industries.

National Interest and Economic Reforms

Throughout both summits, President Tinubu is expected to deliver keynote statements highlighting his administration’s ongoing structural reforms. He will position Nigeria as a premier destination for global capital and engage in high-level talks with prominent African and international business moguls.

The President will be accompanied by a delegation of senior ministers and aides. He is scheduled to return to Nigeria following the conclusion of the Rwanda summit.
