The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has confirmed its intention to contest the 2027 general elections following a favorable ruling by the Court of Appeal in Abuja. The appellate court overturned a previous decision by the Federal High Court in Lokoja, which had previously ordered the party's deregistration.

In an official statement, the party’s National Leader, Henry Seriake Dickson, praised the judiciary for protecting multiparty democracy and ensuring that political participation remains open in Nigeria. The Court of Appeal, presided over by Justice Mohammed Danjuma with the lead reading by Justice Hassan, ruled that the lower court's judgment was flawed and restored the party's full legal status.

Dickson expressed gratitude to party members and supporters across the country for their encouragement during the legal battle. He emphasized that the NDC's registration is fully valid and subsisting, enabling the party and its candidates to participate in all upcoming electoral activities.

Looking ahead to 2027, the party leadership urged members to shift their focus toward campaigning and preparing for the polls. Expressing strong confidence in their political platform and candidates, the NDC maintained its commitment to competing vigorously in the upcoming elections.
