The Kano State chapter of the Arewa APC Forum has announced its withdrawal of support for the second-term bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, citing concerns over governance and leadership direction.

In a statement dated April 17, 2026, the group said the decision followed extensive consultations and a careful assessment of the current administration’s performance at the federal level. It noted that it could no longer continue to support the government “in good conscience,” pointing to alleged issues such as nepotism, incompetence, and corruption.

The forum emphasised that leadership should inspire public confidence, promote fairness, and reflect a strong commitment to national unity and institutional integrity. It added that continued silence in the face of perceived shortcomings would amount to complicity.

The group also urged its members to align with the new position in future political activities, signalling a shift in its stance ahead of the next electoral cycle.

The statement was signed by Sallah Hakilu Kibiya, chairman of the forum in Kano State, and highlights potential cracks within support structures associated with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), particularly in northern Nigeria.
