ADC presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies, claiming that severe financial hardship is driving young Nigerians to sell their kidneys to survive.

In a recent statement on social media, Atiku highlighted reports of individuals resorting to commercial organ sales due to soaring inflation and the high cost of essential goods, including food, electricity, rent, and transportation. Citing police investigations into a recent organ-trafficking syndicate in Abuja involving medical professionals, he noted that vulnerable youths are reportedly being exploited for financial desperation.

While acknowledging that Nigeria maintains legal prohibitions against commercial organ trade, Atiku argued that enforcement alone is insufficient without broader structural reforms to address underlying poverty. He called for economic policies focused on job creation, affordable healthcare, and reduced living costs, contrasting the current administration's approach with his own vision for economic affordability.
