National Democratic Congress (NDC) Vice Presidential Candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso has warned that controlling a large number of governors does not guarantee victory in the 2027 general election. Speaking at a town hall meeting in Rivers State, the former Kano State governor argued that historical precedent shows incumbent administrations can be defeated regardless of state-level backing.

Kwankwaso specifically highlighted Northern governors, predicting that widespread dissatisfaction with their performance would make effective campaigning difficult. He noted that poor governance and macroeconomic mismanagement have left the public frustrated, pointing out that despite significant increases in state and federal revenues—such as monthly allocations rising substantially compared to previous decades—citizens have seen minimal tangible development.

Furthermore, Kwankwaso cautioned that escalating public anger, compounded by severe security challenges across Northern Nigeria, creates a volatile political climate that could heavily impact the upcoming electoral outcomes.
