The presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress has selected the former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, as his vice-presidential running mate.
The development was confirmed by Leader Sampson, the immediate past chairman of the party in Rivers State.
Amaechi previously contested against the former vice president in the party's presidential primary election. Before the vote, the former minister had publicly stated he had no intention of running for the vice presidency. Following his defeat, Amaechi and several aggrieved party members challenged the primary results, alleging the process was manipulated.
Despite his previous objections to the election outcome and his stance on the vice-presidential slot, party leadership confirms that Amaechi has officially accepted the nomination to join the ticket.
