ABUJA:  In a major move to restore internal cohesion, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Peter Obi, convened a private strategic meeting with Senator Seriake Dickson. The three-hour closed-door session aimed to address recent friction within the party following public concerns raised by the former Bayelsa State governor regarding online hostilities from certain factions of Obi's support base.

The high-level meeting, which included several key party leaders, successfully neutralized brewing tensions and concluded with a unified front focused on future electoral success.

Key Highlights of the Resolution

  • Amicable Resolution: Both leaders systematically reviewed recent party activities and successfully resolved the contentious issues that had sparked concern among stakeholders.

  • Strategic Alignment: Despite recent friction, both political figures reaffirmed their shared dedication to the party's core mission of providing a viable governance alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

  • Call for Direct Collaboration: The leadership established clear protocols for managing internal disagreements moving forward, replacing public disputes with direct consultation.

A Unified Path Forward

Following the deliberations, the leadership issued a strong appeal to rank-and-file party members to immediately halt internal bickering and media hostility. Resources and energy are urged to be redirected toward the party's broader objective of national rescue and electoral readiness.

Moving forward, Obi, Dickson, and other major stakeholders plan to sustain a schedule of regular consultations to maintain party cohesion, solidify unity, and ensure the opposition remains robust ahead of upcoming political contests.
