Atiku Abubakar, the African Democratic Congress presidential candidate, has addressed public concerns regarding his age ahead of the 2027 general election, asserting that he remains in good health and fully capable of providing effective leadership. During an interview with BBC Hausa, he dismissed suggestions that advanced age would hinder his governance, pointing to his physical fitness and challenging the premise of the inquiry by drawing comparisons to other political figures. 

Addressing broader political dynamics, Atiku rejected claims that his continued candidacy poses an obstacle to opposition unity. He emphasized that he was the original architect of the current coalition effort, noting that while prominent figures like Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso have since stepped away, the remaining coalition members continue to collaborate. He maintained an optimistic outlook regarding future cooperation among opposition leaders to advance national interests.
