Kwankwaso Secures 30% Stake in Kano ADC Leadership Pact
KANO, NIGERIA: In a major realignment of political forces in Kano State, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has secured a 30% share of leadership positions within the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The move follows a comprehensive power-sharing agreement brokered among the state’s primary political factions.
The deal was solidified during a high-level consultative meeting held Friday night at Senator Kwankwaso’s Miller Road residence. The gathering aimed to harmonize divergent interests and establish a unified organizational structure for the party ahead of upcoming cycles.
The Power-Sharing Formula
According to the party’s Acting Publicity Secretary, Comrade Sa’id Bello, the "integration formula" was designed to ensure a seamless emergence of party executives from the ward level up to the state level.
The leadership slots have been allocated as follows:
| Faction/Interest Group | Leadership Allocation |
| Atiku Abubakar Loyalists (Al Amin Little Structure) | 40% |
| Kwankwasiyya Bloc (Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso) | 30% |
| Gawuna Faction (Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna) | 30% |
This formula was carefully adopted to ensure inclusiveness and maintain a strategic balance among the various interests that have recently converged under the ADC platform," Bello stated.
A Unified Front
The meeting featured a "who's who" of Kano’s political elite, signaling a significant shift in the state's partisan landscape. Notable attendees included:
-
Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso
-
Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna
-
Senator Rufa’i Sani Hanga
-
Comrade Aminu Abdussalam
-
Dr. Akilu Indabawa
The proceedings were presided over by Senator Lawal Adamu Usman, who was officially mandated by the ADC national leadership to oversee the integration process. The successful negotiation marks a pivotal moment for the ADC as it seeks to position itself as a dominant force in Kano politics by merging the grassroots influence of the Kwankwasiyya movement with existing party structures.
