The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced that it will soon take disciplinary action against members undermining the party, specifically targeting Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike.
Speaking during a television interview on Wednesday, PDP chieftain Emmanuel Ogidi addressed the ongoing internal crisis within the party, characterizing the situation as internal sabotage. He stated that the party has officially moved past the conditions previously put forward by Wike and his faction.
Ogidi emphasized that the PDP belongs to the collective membership rather than any single individual or group. Accusing Wike of divided loyalties, Ogidi stated that serving the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) while remaining associated with the PDP threatens democratic standards. He alleged that the APC is intentionally leveraging the situation to destabilize the opposition, noting that the party is fully aware of these tactics and will soon announce decisive measures.
Reiterating a firm stance against indiscipline, Ogidi maintained that genuine reconciliation should not result in organizational disorder. Despite ongoing challenges including recent defections, legal battles, and disputes over political zoning he asserted that the PDP remains resilient and united as preparations begin for its upcoming national convention ahead of the 2027 elections.
