Minister of Works and former Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, has firmly stated that Ebonyi remains entirely loyal to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and will not participate in the multi-party "Rainbow Coalition" promoted by Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike for the 2027 presidential election.

While inspecting Section Two of the Calabar-Abuja Superhighway in Benue State, Umahi clarified his stance on regional politics and national alliances. He acknowledged his strong relationship with Wike but emphasized that Wike’s political maneuvers have no place in Ebonyi State's unified party structure. Reflecting on past political shifts, Umahi defended his decision to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), accusing the former ruling party of treating the South-East unjustly despite years of loyal support.

Addressing political campaigns in his home state, Umahi welcomed visiting politicians but issued a firm warning against hate speech and attempts to create public unrest, asserting that peace and order will be strictly maintained. He also pushed back against social media criticism alleging that he favored his home region by funneling disproportionate federal infrastructure projects to the South-East. He explained that the region is receiving a fair share of development under President Bola Tinubu's administration as part of a broader national agenda, emphasizing that infrastructure progress should be evaluated based on tangible actions rather than mere campaign rhetoric.

Highlighting ongoing infrastructural developments, Umahi provided updates on the Calabar-Abuja Superhighway, noting the substantial contract values for its initial sections. To minimize community disruption during construction, he instructed contractors to avoid demolishing any buildings along the current alignment until a thorough government review and potential route realignment can be conducted. He also urged engineering teams to speed up progress and tackle technical hurdles, such as the Ado Bridge challenge.

Reiterating his unwavering backing for President Tinubu ahead of 2027, Umahi praised the administration's reform agenda and vision, stressing that leadership continuity is vital to prevent major national infrastructure projects from stalling. Additionally, addressing local political appointments, Umahi clarified that his son's nomination as the chairman of Ohaozara Local Government Area was initiated entirely by Governor Francis Nwifuru, adding that he has advised his son to ensure development resources are distributed fairly across all eleven council wards.
