The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expelled Ganiyu Egunjobi, a former local government chairman, and Azeez Yusuf. The disciplinary action follows allegations of disloyalty and anti-party activities after both individuals ran in the 2026 House of Assembly primary elections for Agege Constituencies I and II, respectively, but failed to win the party's nomination.
Instead of supporting the party's candidates or utilizing internal channels for appeal, both men secured tickets with an opposing political party, the APM, to run in the same election cycle.
State APC Chairman Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi issued a statement clarifying that the party views their subsequent resignations as a belated attempt to avoid formal expulsion. The leadership emphasized that party membership requires adherence to internal rules and respect for democratic outcomes, noting that losing a primary does not justify undermining the organization.
Consequently, the Lagos APC has invoked its constitutional provisions to remove both individuals from its rosters. The party has officially notified the public that Egunjobi and Yusuf no longer hold any authority to represent, negotiate, or speak on behalf of the APC. Leadership reiterated its commitment to maintaining party discipline, cohesion, and integrity ahead of the upcoming elections.
