Oyo State Governor and Allied Peoples Movement presidential candidate, Seyi Makinde, has firmly denied claims that the Federal Government provided 50 billion Naira to fund the upgrade of the Ladoke Akintola International Airport in Ibadan. 

Speaking on Tuesday in Katsina during the Makinde/Daura 2027 Presidential Town Hall meeting, Makinde addressed remarks made by Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike. During an appearance on TVC’s Journalists’ Hangout on Monday, Wike asserted that President Bola Tinubu’s administration had supported the Oyo State Government with 50 billion Naira for the airport project.

Categorically refuting the statement, Makinde insisted that the Federal Government did not contribute any funds toward the project. He emphasized that the expansion and upgrade of the airport to international standards are being financed entirely 100 percent by the Oyo State Government.
