Nigerian Air Force Precision Strike Cripples ISWAP Logistics Hub in Borno
MAIDUGURI: Nigeria, The Air Component of Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) has neutralized dozens of terrorists and dismantled a critical supply network following a precision airstrike in Borno State.
The operation, conducted on April 11, 2026, targeted a high-value Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) enclave located near the abandoned village of Jilli in the Gubio Local Government Area.
Strategic Intelligence and Execution
The strike was the culmination of intensive Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions over the Bindul–Jilli axis. This corridor had been under heavy military watch following a series of hostile actions, including:
-
January 2026: A fatal IED attack near Bindul that claimed the lives of eight soldiers.
-
April 9, 2026: Coordinated insurgent assaults on Ngamdu and Benisheik.
Military officials confirmed that the Jilli enclave served as a convergence point for ISWAP fighters, collaborators, and logistics handlers. On the day of the strike, ISR platforms tracked a large contingent of gun trucks and motorcycles moving toward the hub. After validating the target through human intelligence (HUMINT), the Air Component executed multiple precision strikes.
Impact on Terrorist Operations
Post-strike assessments indicate a "high degree of accuracy," resulting in the following:
-
Neutralization: Scores of terrorists were killed in the blast.
-
Hardware Destruction: Numerous gun trucks, motorcycles, and technicals were destroyed.
-
Operational Disruption: Intelligence suggest the group was in the final stages of preparing for coordinated attacks on troop locations in Gubio.
"This decisive action has significantly disrupted imminent terrorist plans and degraded their operational capability within the Theatre," a military spokesperson stated.
Arrest at Ngamdu
In a related development on April 12, 2026, security forces apprehended a known logistics courier identified as Turja Bulu in Ngamdu Town.
During preliminary interrogations, Bulu reportedly confessed to participating in the April 9 attack on the 29 Brigade at Benisheik. He admitted to being dispatched from the Jilli enclave to transport food supplies to other terrorist cells currently hiding in the Magumeri-Gubio general area.
The arrest further validates the military's intelligence regarding the Jilli hub's role as a central nervous system for insurgent supply chains in the region.
