Troops Arrest Teenage ISWAP Courier, Link Suspect to Jilli

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have arrested a 15-year-old suspected ISWAP logistics courier in Ngamdu, Borno State, in a development highlighting the group’s supply network in the North-East.

Security sources said the suspect, identified as Tijjani, was apprehended while attempting to procure supplies for insurgents operating along the Ngamdu–Benisheik corridor. During preliminary interrogation, he allegedly confessed to participating in recent attacks on Benisheik and Ngamdu.

He reportedly told investigators that the fighters mobilised from Jilli, a known insurgent enclave in Gubio LGA, before carrying out the ആക്രമations and returning to the area. The suspect also claimed he was sent back to Ngamdu with N850,000 to obtain logistics for other fighters.

Military sources noted that the arrest provides insight into ISWAP’s logistics structure, particularly Jilli’s role as a staging and supply hub.

The development follows recent precision airstrikes by OPHK on the Jilli axis, which reportedly destroyed terrorist logistics facilities, vehicles, and killed several insurgents.

Authorities say efforts are ongoing to dismantle insurgent supply chains, including the use of couriers, as part of broader operations to degrade terrorist capabilities in the region.
