Tiger Woods Released on Bail Following Florida Rollover Crash and DUI Charges

JUPITER ISLAND, FLGolf legend Tiger Woods was released from the Martin County Jail early Saturday morning after being arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence following a rollover car accident. Woods, 50, was released on bond after serving a state-mandated eight-hour hold.

Incident Overview

The crash occurred shortly before 2:00 PM on Friday, March 27, 2026, on a residential two-lane road near Woods' residence. According to Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek, Woods was driving his Land Rover at a "high rate of speed" in a 30 mph zone when he attempted to overtake a pickup truck towing a pressure-cleaning trailer.

The Land Rover clipped the rear of the trailer, swerved, and overturned onto the driver’s side, sliding a significant distance before coming to a rest. Woods was able to self-extricate through the passenger-side window and was uninjured. The driver of the other vehicle also reported no injuries.

Arrest and Charges

Responding officers described Woods as appearing "lethargic" and exhibiting "signs of impairment" at the scene. While a breathalyzer test returned a result of 0.00 (indicating no alcohol consumption), investigators suspect impairment was linked to medication or other substances.

Woods has been charged with:

  • DUI with property damage

  • Refusal to submit to a lawful test (specifically a urine sample)

Sheriff Budensiek noted that while Woods was cooperative, he declined the urinalysis—a right under Florida law that may prevent authorities from obtaining a definitive chemical match for the suspected impairment.

Context and Career Impact

This incident marks the latest in a series of traffic-related legal issues for the 15-time major champion:

  • 2017: Arrested in Jupiter, Florida, for DUI; he later pleaded guilty to reckless driving, citing an adverse reaction to prescription painkillers.

  • 2021: Suffered severe, near-fatal leg injuries in a high-speed rollover crash in Southern California.

The arrest comes at a sensitive time for Woods, who was reportedly weighing a return to competitive play at the upcoming Masters Tournament (April 9–12) and facing a deadline to decide on the 2027 Ryder Cup captaincy.
