President Bola Tinubu has praised Nigeria's security personnel for their bravery and sacrifices in combating terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other domestic security threats.
In a statement shared on his official X account on Monday, the president commended frontline troops, characterizing them as a vital shield protecting innocent citizens and maintaining national peace and stability. He acknowledged the demanding conditions under which these personnel operate, noting their deployments across difficult terrains, including dense forests, waterways, remote roads, and forward operating bases.
While recognizing the immense pressure and hardships associated with these operations, Tinubu emphasized that the nation deeply appreciates and honors the service of its military. His commendation extended beyond the armed forces to include the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), various intelligence agencies, and local security groups.
Recognition of Families and Fallen Heroes
The president also highlighted the emotional toll experienced by the families of security personnel, acknowledging the strain of prolonged deployments and constant uncertainty.
Furthermore, Tinubu paid tribute to the service members who lost their lives in the line of duty. He stated that their sacrifices are directly responsible for the rescue of communities, the protection of families, and the ongoing preservation of the nation.
A Call for Public Collaboration
Emphasizing that national security requires collective effort rather than just military action, Tinubu urged Nigerian citizens to actively support security agencies. He called on the public to provide timely and credible information to authorities to help prevent and combat criminal activities.
In closing, the president reaffirmed Nigeria's resilience against violence and extremism, asserting that the actions of criminal groups do not define the nation's identity. He expressed continued gratitude for the vigilance of the troops and offered prayers for their ongoing safety.
