FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike
Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has refuted claims that he is actively lobbying for the position of Director-General for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, the Minister dismissed media reports linking him to the campaign leadership role as entirely false, clarifying that he has held no discussions regarding leadership or membership within the presidential campaign structure.
While distancing himself from the campaign directorate reports, Wike reaffirmed his steadfast commitment to securing a victory for President Bola Tinubu's re-election bid. He stated that holding a formal title within the campaign council is unnecessary for him to deliver strong electoral results in both Rivers State and the FCT.
The Minister emphasized that upon returning from his current overseas break—taken following a month-long schedule of commissioning, flagging off, and inspecting infrastructure projects—his immediate priority will remain focused on executing his mandate under the administration's Renewed Hope Agenda.
