The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has attributed recent political tensions surrounding the Osun State governorship election to statements made by President Bola Tinubu.

Speaking on Arise News, ADC National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi asserted that comments made by political figures significantly influence the behavior of their supporters. He argued that a recent remark by President Tinubu—suggesting that political competition permits extraordinary measures—was interpreted by subordinates as tacit authorization for aggressive tactics. This concern followed police questioning of Senator Francis Fadahunsi regarding remarks made during a campaign event in Ilesa.

Despite these political tensions, the ADC expressed confidence in its electoral prospects. Party representatives emphasized that a transparent, free, and fair electoral process would secure a victory for ADC candidate Najeem Salaam, who is competing against incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke and APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji.

Additionally, the party raised concerns regarding the heavy deployment of security personnel in the state ahead of the vote, cautioning that the strong presence risks militarizing the political environment and potentially undermining public confidence in the election's credibility.
