Donald Trump has said the United States could end its military operations against Iran within two to three weeks, adding that a diplomatic agreement with Tehran is not a prerequisite for ending the conflict.
Speaking at the White House on Tuesday, Trump indicated that a withdrawal could come “very soon,” suggesting a possible timeline of “within two weeks, maybe three.”
When asked whether a negotiated settlement with Iran would be necessary to conclude hostilities, Trump dismissed the idea. “Iran doesn’t have to make a deal,” he said.
Earlier, the US president criticised European allies in a post on Truth Social, singling out countries including the United Kingdom over reported concerns about fuel supply disruptions linked to tensions around the Strait of Hormuz. He urged them to take a more assertive stance.
Meanwhile, hostilities continue across the region. In Beirut, heavy airstrikes have struck the Lebanese capital, with Israel Defense Forces stating that the targets included a commander from Hezbollah and another senior figure.
The White House has announced that Trump is expected to address the nation on Wednesday evening.
